Bazooka are a band originally from Volos, Greece, consisting singer/guitarist Xanthos Papanikolaou, guitarist Vasilis Tzelepis, drummer John Vulgaris and bass player Aris Rammos. They now live in Athens. Coming from a new Greek scene with bands like Acid Baby Jesus, Komodina 3 and Gay Anniversary, Bazooka have managed a significant evolution in both sound and writing, taking their message to new raw heights of musical sophistication, expressive power and lyrical finesse. In the past five years they have toured Europe several times as well as the US.
Since 2012 Bazooka are working with Slovenly Recordings, where they have released the “I Want To Fuck All The Girls In My School” EP and their first self-titled full album. They’ve also released a 7″ for the Parisian label Inch Allah Records. In November 2015 they released a single for the Greek label Sound Effect on which for the first time they’re presenting a song sung in Greek called “Δεμένος Στο Κρεβάτι Σου”, meaning ‘Tied To Your Bed’. In March 2016 they will release their second full album for Slovenly Recordings with the title “Useless Generation” which is entirely sung in their mother tongue and they will hit the road for a European tour.

This total European Passports band actually based in Brussels, Belgium is reborn as a demons shape, still with fishnet stocking to catch you in his sex spectacle like THE CRAMPS or THE NEW YORK DOLLS used to show, with the experience of almost a decade crawling USA’s and european underground rock n’ roll places as much as sharing stages with dozen of “Nowadays Stars” :), exciting, surprising, killing audiences and bands most of times, as so much bands would like to pretend… The eclectic set influences, still leaded by Piero Ilov, goes thru JACK OF HEART by many numbers, as much with early Syd’s PINK FLOYD as by LEE HAZELWOOD’s soongwritting, clearly VELVET UNDERGROUNDed or 13TH FLOORELEVATOR touched and structured, as much as a STOOGES energy, or the psyche punk roots of the first bands named above always following THE ROLLING STONES early sound, looking at oriental spirit, indian sitar rags, south american tango or flamenco rythms that the band ‘ve been working on, not forgetting the country(whites) and black music colors of their sound from the 50’s to the 70’s jumping to “A 2015 Rock / Rock / Rock” smashing most of nice garage or/and poppy bands and proudly present THE ROYAL JACK OF HEART from Brussels!
It’s gonna knock, hard, and harder now with some next album’s songs -ready soon!- which seems to be again some levels higher than what they did before, and than most of sounds around, like everytime they put out a full lenght (two albums on the now very known BORN BAD RECORDS -both influenced lots of bands by the eclectic sound and songs? it’s a fact!- and a third LP, compilation of 7inches on the very modern TEENAGE MENOPAUSE RECORDS, all recorded by Piero Ilov ‘s touch, all artworked by first fan ELZO DURT genious)… allrights !!! Only this -and much more- to say about JOH… Better be there, it rings the bell of the return of this little tiny band that never been that hot, bloody(litteraly), cumin’ sweat and Rock for your good… 🙂
