This is one of the best rock’n’roll bands of this century.
These guys released stuff on labels like Crypt, Goner, In The Red, and Fat Possum, and were covered by bands like Black Lips and Heavy Trash, and probably a few others. They are internationally revered and were mourned after death, like a Rudolph Valentino covered in boils and feces.
Not to be confused with ‘King Kahn and the BBQ Show’, The King Khan & BBQ Show are an elite powerhouse of top TOP notch doo-wop/psych/r&b/r&r craziness that has been sorely lacking in today’s world of grunge worship and 10 month ‘careers’. In a span of 6 years, they managed to put out three LPs, a mess of 45s, and toured the world.
Did they hate each other? Yes they did. BUT LIKE BROTHERS. Time healed the wounds, and though their souls may look like a Edward J Olmos’s skin, they will always be JUMBO LIONS, golden hearts blazing like the sun, ready for psychic warfare and MAXIMUM hijinks.
Maybe if you embrace their magick, we will see them again, worldwide, the jetsetting champions of old.
